Parks and Wildlife Tasmania put to tender an expansion of the Wineglass Bay Visitgors Carpark and Walking Track. Clint Johnstone and Adrian Granger worked on this project through their companies respectively, C. Johnstone & Associates and G & A Consulting.
The requirements issued by Parks and Wildlife Services Tasmania, included a car park upgrade from 110 car spaces at full capacity to 200 car spaces and appropriate parking for 4 to 6 buses. The aim was to establish a potential shuttle bus system for future use to reduce the environmental impact of private vehicles, furthermore the design was required to fit within the allocated scope of works.
In excess of 80,000 visitors use The Lookout walking track each year so alterations to the existing walking tracks were required to change the flow of bushwalkers and to maintain the environmental integrity of the track. Existing services and structures such as toilets, tracks and roads needed to be taken into consideration and utilised to contain costs.
The high standard of this project was rewarded when Clint Johnstone and Adrian Granger entered into the 2007 CCF Earth Awards and won both the State and National Category 2 Award (Project Value between $1 Million and $5 Million).
